The 2016 Emmy Awards’ red carpet brought out major beauty inspiration. As the actresses, models and TV personalities posed for the cameras tonight, we couldn’t help but notice one runway-inspired makeup trend was dominating—bold, bright eye makeup—and Olivia Culpo and Emily Ratajkowski wore it best.
L’Oréal Paris celebrity makeup artist Sir John was responsible for Olivia’s electric purple look. He kept it subtle above the lid, then dabbed glitter right across and used neutral shades beneath the brow bone. Bright purple eyeliner across the waterline added a contrasting, exotic effect, and false eyelashes and mascara made her eyes pop.
Emily’s brilliant blue cat-eye was created by celebrity makeup artist Hung Vanngo to match her royal blue Zac Posen gown. He blended a bold blue shadow into the form of a wing and smudged it beneath her waterline to make it extra vibrant.
While the looks may seem intimidating at first glance, they’re actually a great way to make a night-out statement by playing up a single feature.
