Kanye West Now Wants To (Also) Dominate This Industry

Dimitrios Kambouris

As if one Kardashian clan member weren’t enough to take over the cosmetics industry, Kanye West might soon join the ranks of sister-in-law Kylie Jenner. According to a new report, Kanye has filed legal documents in an attempt to launch his own cosmetics line, named Donda after his late mother. The rumor is that he intends to create makeup, lotions and perfumes, among other products. Wait, what?

It seems that Kanye wasn’t joking last year when he tweeted a chart detailing his plans to build Donda Communications Company into a lifestyle brand. The comprehensive chart breaks down his chosen “categories of influence,” including everything from amusement parks and hotels to fitness centers and healthy fast-food joints. Yes, Kanye may be one of the biggest current names in fashion and has even fantasized aloud about running for president, but we never thought he’d attempt to step into the world of beauty products or “nuclear power” (deep breaths, y’all).

Approval for Kanye’s legal documents is currently pending, but judging by his persistent past, it’s very possible we will see Yeezy peddling his makeup line to retailers in the not-so-distant future. If we had to choose between seeing his beauty products in stores across the world or seeing Kanye West in the Oval Office, Donda doesn’t sound so crazy after all—plus, the packaging will undoubtedly be chic.
