Bright Beauty With Charlotte Tilbury

by The Zoe Report

As proponents of taking calculated risks when it comes to our beauty regimen, we enlisted the assistance of famed makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury to recommend how to incorporate bright hues into your look. Try her color-teaming tips when you’re feeling bold!

Yves Saint Laurent eyeshadow ($58), Givenchy lipstick ($36), Vaseline jelly ($5), MAC gloss ($15)

Bright Beauty Look To Try: Sultry Jungle Tones “One of my favorite shoots was for a Missoni campaign starring Kate Moss and shot by the amazing Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot. I used contrasting, bold colors that created emphasis on the eyes and the lips. A lacquered orangey pout was offset by bold shades of jungle greens on the lids and gorgeous, golden, glowing skin. Clashing colors can really work well together especially on darker skin tones—greens and corals, purples and reds can all look gorgeous, glossy and beautiful. MAC has an amazing selection of pigments perfect for re-creating neon brights and pops of color on the skin. For that glossy effect that we have seen all over the runways this season, layer on coats of MAC clear gloss, or for a longer lasting effect, a slick of Vaseline over the top of your color on the lids, cheekbones and lips.”

Tom Ford cheek color ($56), MAC powder blush ($21), Marc Jacobs lip gloss ($28), By Terry mascara ($47)

Bright Beauty Look To Try: Punky Vivid Pinks “For the new Tom Ford A/W13 campaign I created a vivid pink look. Tom really took me on a creative journey with his references of the punk movement and the iconic Grace Jones. I used the Tom Ford cheek color in Mystic to create the exaggerated blush. For an everyday version of a strong blush look, keep the rest of your make-up fresh and dewy. Use a pretty pink blusher high up on the cheekbones—MAC Dollymix is the perfect shade for a healthy, youthful glow. Pair it with a glossy coral lip and layer on a coat of chocolate brown mascara to keep the focus on the cheeks and lips.”

NARS eyeshadow ($24), Tarte eyeshadow ($19), Make Up For Ever aqua cream ($23), Too Faced lipstick ($21)

Bright Beauty Look To Try: Exotic Emphasis On The Eyes Inspired by a recent shoot in Peru for Vogue Paris, photographed by Mario Testino: “Blend a purple cream shadow onto the lids, upwards and outwards towards the brow, and apply Make Up For Ever’s Aqua Cream in gold to the inner corner of the eye using a smaller precision brush, like Hakuhodo Pointed Eye Shadow Brush. Curl your lashes and layer on black mascara, then use a pop of cream blusher high up on the cheek bones for a healthy flush of colour. Stila cream blusher in Poppy is a make-up bag essential as it’s flattering on every skin tone. To dial up this look for the evening use a fuchsia color on the lips for a full, luscious, glamorous pout.”
