High Gloss Lipstick, Two Ways

We love the high gloss trend for eyes, skin and hair but our favorite way to bring glamorous shine into your beauty look for a night out is luxe, glossed-up lipstick paired with with a gorgeous, hydrated complexion. Today Joey Maalouf demonstrates two chic ways to make a statement with lustrous lipstick this holiday season using Team Zoe staffer Kendall Cohan as his model and muse!

Dark & Vampy

The Look

Dark, vampy lipstick never goes out of style but it's definitely having a moment in the spotlight this winter with every brand offering up their own almost-black or deep purple shade. We love the look with a white dress and opulent accessories for a sexy contrast.

Joey's Tip

"Exfoliate lips to create a flawless base then line them with a basic pencil. This will ensure lipstick looks even, doesn't bleed and stays on all night."

The Products

Apply a little bit of Vaseline on top of an already glossy lipstick for extra shine. Vaseline 100% Pure Petroleum Jelly, $5; Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick in Satin Blackcurrent, $20.

Light & Luxe

The Look

If you're planning to wear an already-edgy or dark-color look, opt for a high shine lipstick in a blush nude color. The luxe, feminine shade will elevate the ensemble, and is especially practical for dinner parties when you'll be eating and drinking during the event.

Joey's Tip: "With a lighter color lipstick you can afford to extend the liner a little bit beyond the natural line for an extra full look. For added drama finish with major black lashes."

The Products

We live for Hourglass's full coverage crayons, which come in a range of pretty nudes. Fresh Lip Treatment With SPF 15, $23; Hourglass Femme Nude Lip Stylo in Honey Beige, $30.
