Kate Middleton Literally Just Wore Butterfly Clips

by Stephanie Montes

While we love imagining Kate Middleton’s closet—lined with rows and rows of fabulous fascinators, heirloom hair accessories and Queen Elizabeth’s vintage tiaras—the Duchess of Cambridge continues to favor one accessory that makes her more endearing than ever: the butterfly clip. The ’90s staple—one that probably set her back a measly British pound and some change—has been a go-to for the royal on more than one occasion. In 2012 she busted out the clips on the Diamond Jubilee tour, then revisited the look last year on her tour of Canada. Most recently, she wore them while visiting the Anna Freud Centre for Children and Families in London (top image, below). While we certainly would have reached for a sapphire-encrusted barrette over the basic plastic accessory any day, that’s just part of her charm, and we love her for it. See? Royals, they’re just like us.
