How A Model Preps For Fashion Week

Fashion week—nay, fashion month—is about to begin, and everyone is girding their loins for the sartorial spectacle that’s set to ensue. While designers are toiling away on their new collections, the models who will soon wear them are doing their own kind of prep work. Here, we tapped the ultra-cool Alexandra Agoston (who’s walked shows including Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier and Comme des Garçons) to share how she gets ready—and stays fresh—throughout the whirlwind week.

Skincare Is Everything

"With makeup being put on and wiped off so many times during fashion week, I like to keep my own skincare routine really simple with a few key products that I love, using advice I have picked up from makeup artists along the way. I use Bioderma Créaline H20 to clean my face after shooting or walking around New York all day, and Mario Badescu Facial Spray with aloe and herbs as a toner, or for a quick skin refresh throughout the day or on the plane. For moisturizing, I love Lait-Creme Concentre by Embryolisse for a nourishing hydrator, and I also love using RMS Beauty Oil on my skin at night for some extra love during fashion week."

Pamper Yourself

"I love the Dermalogica facial at their studio in Soho. At home, I use a natural fiber brush on my body before a shower—it's great for circulation and revitalizing the skin—and after the shower I use coconut oil all over to moisturize. After walking around in heels all day at shows, a deep tissue massage is amazing if I can find the time! "

Stay Active

"I love to stay active—it gives me energy for fashion week. I go to a workout class in TriBeCa called Bari, which is a combination of cardio and toning designed to lengthen and lean your body. You get to jump on a trampoline during the workout, which is much more fun than running on a treadmill."
