Bold-color makeup looks have far from dominated the fall 2014 shows in New York but we can’t deny the appeal of a strong red lip (does it ever go out of style?), and the one at Naeem Khan’s show yesterday was too pretty for words. In other words, let’s take a moment.
Nars Director of Global Artistry James Boehmer created this decadent makeup look inspired by the collection’s reference to early cabaret and burlesque. Dewy skin, gilded eye makeup, defined brows and full lashes defined the rest of the look but the focal point was definitely the bordeaux-hued lip accented by a golden highlight at the cupid’s bow.

Boehmer used new colors from Nars’ fall 2014 makeup collection to achieve the look but recommends the brand’s Amazon lip liner and Fire Down Below lipstick to get a similar effect now. And while the real life version might not require such a strong golden highlight, a touch of shimmer at the cupid’s bow will create a lovely, romantic effect. With Valentine’s Day coming up, we couldn’t think of a more appropriate statement.
