According to Tiffany Masterson, founder of non-toxic skincare line Drunk Elephant, vitamin C shields skin from damaging environmental factors (such as UV light and pollution) by providing potent antioxidant protection; it also reduces the appearance of hyperpigmentation and other forms of sun damage, boosts sunscreen effectiveness, reduces inflammation and irritation, improves the skin’s natural healing response (which fades post-breakout acne scars) and boosts healthy collagen production, resulting in firmer, brighter skin. Phew—to say it works overtime would be an understatement. Tiffany recommends incorporating the super-ingredient into one’s daily routine (and notes it’s appropriate for every skin type and tone), with one to two pumps of product in the morning directly under or with a physical sunscreen.
