Cue #OscarsSoWhite

Oscar nominations were announced this morning, and #OscarsSoWhite is clearly back in play this year. With Straight Outta Compton missing a Best Picture nom, Will Smith left out of the Best Actor category and Idris Elba falling short of the Best Supporting Actor list, the only Academy nods for two of the year’s biggest films about African-American characters went to white people. Y-3 Goes Galactic

Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto has revealed the future of flight suits today via a collaboration between Y-3 and Virgin Galactic. Known for his conceptual innovation, Yamamoto has dreamed up the first-ever commercial space line, created for the pilots, future astronauts and operations team at Spaceport America in New Mexico. An "intersection of fashion and space," the flight suit and boot prototypes, made from specially engineered materials, are a result of extensive testing and trials to ensure functionality. Even passengers will get a chance to don futuristic duds—the collaborators also created a jacket for upcoming Virgin Galactic commercial space flights. [ Fashionista ]
