We’ve all been there: You’re smack dab in the middle of a stunning location (whether it be the park on an especially sunny afternoon or the Hamptons on holiday) and you can’t seem to unglue yourself from your smartphone long enough to actually enjoy your surroundings. No judgment, but it might be time for a digital detox. Model du jour Kendall Jenner has some unexpectedly sage advice on the subject.

Allure’s October cover girl tells the mag that after seeing sister Kylie’s kung-fu-like grip on her phone during a family vacation, “That was the moment it kind of clicked for me. And I didn’t like it. So sometimes I delete Instagram or Twitter or Snapchat off my phone for a couple days.” Perhaps that’s how the brunette beauty stays sane despite her image’s constant presence on social media. Even for those of us who don’t suffer the same kind of scrutiny, this little tip could help us get back to getting lost in the moment.
