The Fashion Girl’s Guide To Denver

by Eliza Krpoyan

Wondering where to go this weekend? We vote to ditch the beach for a mountainous getaway à la Denver, Colorado. This burgeoning locale has quickly become a must-visit destination for the style set thanks to its upscale hotels, shopping destinations and restaurants. Ahead, we detail where to stay, shop, dine and hike (and shop some more) in Colorado’s capital city.

Halcyon

Stay At: Halcyon

Imagine being a guest at your wealthiest friend’s apartment rather than staying at a hotel. At Halcyon that’s exactly what the designers were going for. In place of a front desk at the entrance is the Kitchen Counter, which offers complimentary drinks and freshly baked pastries throughout the day. There is also a gear garage where guests can borrow board games, bikes, helmets and other equipment. In front of each hotel room is a built-in doormat that reads “Welcome to Denver,” “Nice Shoes,” “Namaste,” and other kitschy phrases. Inside, a vinyl record player, gold hardware, herringbone shower tiles and postal-design details that lend an upscale retro vibe. Psst… there’s also a hush-hush speakeasy that the staff won’t tell you about. (Hint: Look for a gold doorbell.)

Workout At: Yoga On The Rocks

Not only are there a ton of hiking trails at Red Rocks, but you can also do Yoga on the Rocks, watch an outdoor movie or enjoy a concert series (the acoustics in the amphitheater are unreal). Mark your calendar: Kings of Leon will take the stage in October.

A Line

Shop At: A Line Boutique

A Line is to Denver what Elyse Walker is to Los Angeles. The high-end boutique offers personal styling in-person and via text, and complimentary wardrobe and closet edits. Out-of-towners can even get the "up-close and personal" shopping experience long after they've returned home. Here's how it works: A stylist gets notes on your aesthetic, sizes, wardrobe dreams, and will then note the pieces that are on your wish list. When they get new styles in, they'll create a box with several outfits and accessories and mail it to you with a return label. You’ll keep what you love, send back what you don’t and get charged only for the pieces that worked. Where do we sign up?

Shop At: Restoration Hardware

This is the most beautiful RH we’ve ever seen. The massive 70,000 square-foot gallery is located inside Cherry Creek Shopping Center where neighbors include Neiman Marcus. Trust us, it’s a destination worth visiting. After you’ve taken in interior design inspiration, head across the street to Pura Vida for ‘me time’ at the spa.

Shop At: Bloom

Founded by former Ford fashion model Anuschka Pashel, this darling Denver boutique is where you’ll find handmade homeware from places like Morocco. Also pick up a beautiful bouquet, one-of-a kind succulent arrangement (they’re allowed on domestic flights), stationary, jewelry and candles.

@acorn_denver

Dine At: Acorn

We can’t get over this contemporary American restaurant situated in a 1880s factory-turned-marketplace. Picture a massive space with exposed brick walls, white marble tabletops and outdoor seating. Make note: Order shrimp and grits, kale and apple salad, agnolotti and ribeye. Yum! For dessert, try the summer strawberries and profiteroles prepared with strawberry sorbet, chantilly cream and farm basil.
