The iPhone Updates Fashion Girls Actually Care About

Following months of insider leaks and fan speculation, Apple finally revealed the details behind the highly anticipated iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone X (which apparently stands for 10, completely bypassing the 9) at its tenth anniversary event in the new Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino yesterday. While face-ID unlocking and wireless charging are no small upgrades, the feature that’s getting us hyped is the major camera improvement for the iPhone X. (Hello, one-snap selfies!) Already equipped with dual 12-megapixel rear cameras, the main eye features an f/1.8 aperture and the telephoto lens an f/2.4 aperture, which in non-photographer-speak means blogger-worthy images that defeat the purpose of carrying around a DSLR. Even better, Portrait Lighting mode adds studio-quality effects along with depth sensors and facial mapping, thanks to the brand’s partnership with Snapchat. (Because if there’s any social platform that understands selfie-loving millennials, it’s Snapchat.) Read more about the new iPhone here—it’s literally the stuff of our Instagram dreams.
