Salute Your Shorts

by The Zoe Report

A tell-tale sign that summer is just around the corner, cutoff denim shorts are starting to come out and play! This classic American vintage look, glorified by Catherine Bach (aka Daisy Duke) in the late 70s, is one hot weather staple you should absolutely have in your wardrobe. With so many pairs to choose from this season, my money is on Erin Wasson’s beachy-rocker rendering for RVCA.

Whether you are right at home in a laidback, California-spirited ensemble—hand raised—or you are more inclined to a rough-around-the-edges aesthetic, these destroyed shorts are the perfect starting point. Their frayed hem, metal mesh component and loved wash come together to form some seriously praiseworthy cutoffs. It is important to note that whenever you wear something with a short hem that puts your legs fully on display, you should always balance things out on top for a classy outcome. Therefore, take a cue from the Erin x RVCA S/S 2010 show and match your short shorts with a flowy bohemian top, or give this classic piece a preppy, modern spin by pairing them with a fitted button-down and blazer. Accessories included, of course. xoRZ
