Say good-bye to your favorite velvet bodysuits and leggings in every color of the rainbow—American Apparel, once a thriving retailer known for its affordable staples (and its risqué advertising), is officially closing all of its remaining 110 stores in the United States and moving to Canada under new owner Gildan Activewear. After years of declining revenue and other controversial claims, the brand’s intellectual property and manufacturing equipment were snapped up by Gildan in an $88 million cash sale. The news also leads to the shuttering of American Apparel’s Los Angeles headquarters by April, and will unfortunately impact the jobs of 3,000-plus factory workers. And because the buyer opted not to keep the business running, everything in store and online must go, so American Apparel is offering all items at 40% off using the code TAKE40. Make sure to shop your favorite styles before it’s too late.
