American Apparel Is Back—But Here’s The Catch

The last we heard about affordable cult label American Apparel, it completely closed up shop after filing for bankruptcy and being bought out by Canadian manufacturer Gilden Activewear Inc. Apparently we spoke too soon. Gilden announced the brand is back and brimming with its iconic hero styles (think: the nylon bodysuit, tennis skirt and metallic disco leggings). There are, however, two differences. The pieces are only available online and they’re not exactly “Made in the USA” anymore—with the exception of a tight selection of eight pieces—as the rest are made abroad. Thankfully the brand still asserts it is ethically made and sweatshop free. Head on over to the newly polished site and shop your AA favorites.
