5 Unique Ways To Wear Gingham This Summer

Ah, gingham. The beloved print of our childhood has come back—with fervor—for the summer, and we couldn’t be more excited. Because, of course, when one of our favorite runway trends also happens to be one of the most wearable ones out there, it’s safe to say we’re sitting on a little bit of a fashion cloud right about now. In addition to earning the honor of being one of the most popular prints of this past season’s high-fashion collections—in New York, London, Milan and Paris—it also brings with it an air of nostalgia that we can’t help but want to shop nonstop.

Whether in bright pink or classic black, gingham is a pattern that will amp up every look but still have you feeling like Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn and Jackie Kennedy all wrapped up in one. And who can argue with that? This summer, we’re investing in everything from ballet flats to midi skirts in the pattern. And we’re fairly certain you might not see us style a look this season that doesn’t contain at least one gingham item (if not four or five—don’t judge!). Now matter your style or budget, we’ve got five ways to wear this throwback print in fresh ways.

Get Gingham

Statement Top

Nothing dresses up denim like a great statement top, and gingham is the perfect way to go. Go with frilly details or an on-trend square-neck silhouette and watch the sparks fly.

’50-Inspired Top and Pants

The glory of gingham goes way back—so why not channel the looks of yesteryear? We love a sock-hop-inspired ensemble of cigarette-leg pants and a cropped smock top...all in the adorable checked print.

Ladylike Shoes

If you're not fully sold on the whimsical pattern, we suggest you dip your toe in—literally. Try a feminine and fun gingham-print flat to pair with an otherwise understated summer outfit. It's the perfect accent piece.

Summertime Midi Skirt

Give your denim and linen midis a rest and reach for one in the print of the season. Your wardrobe will thank you.

Girly Mini

While you're at it, grab a mini in the print, too (for good measure).
