Always an astounding finish to fashion month, Chanel transported show-goers to the South-East of France for Paris Fashion Week‘s finale, transforming the Grand Palais into a lavish waterfall setting inspired by the Gorges du Verdon canyon.
Delivering grandiose glamour from the clothing to the accessories, luxuriant serenity transpired throughout the collection, predominantly done in a palette of turquoise, seafoam and azure with a frothy white finish. What’s more, the runway solidified for us four trends we’ve witnessed throughout New York, London and Milan—all unexpected hits we’re now confident will be huge for spring.
In the shoe department, PVC boots proved to be the new It piece from the French house, seen on every model from mid-calf to over-the-knee silhouettes. Across the board this fashion month, every major shoe brand put out see-through styles from sandals to stilettos, so clearly (pun intended) the transparent look is chief next season.
For handbags, layering (another trend witnessed throughout all four weeks) has staked its claim. Chanel’s take saw see-through totes, tweed shoulder bags, leather satchels and glittering minaudières worn in tandem—even a cloaked bag made an appearance on the runway—a look we also spotted at Balenciaga.
Shorts, shorts and more shorts are prime in terms of apparel—Bermuda lengths and bike shorts were spotted on the Chanel runway in the form of tweed-trimmed leather and black unitards beneath dresses, respectively. We’re all for the knee-hitting length as a fresh silhouette fitting for all ages, with spandex styles seemingly becoming the next version of leggings to trend.
Ahead, discover the trends Chanel all but proved will dominate next spring. Plus, peruse a handful of striking looks we couldn’t help but focus on from the spectacular show.
