Gucci Is Going Sci-Fi, And We’re Here For It

Ever thought you’d be able to use the words high fashion and Star Trek in the same sentence? Think again. For Gucci’s Fall 2017 campaign, creative director Alessandro Michele went out of this world with a short film starring a cast of aliens, humanoids and other extraterrestrials clad in the luxury brand’s menswear and womenswear collections. Directed by Glen Luchford, Gucci And Beyond features motifs from the ’50s and ’60s sci-fi genre along with inspiration from the Star Trek TV series. In one scene we meet the Creature From the Black Lagoon, and in another we spot a silver UFO over a dystopian meadow. It’s a retro-futuristic experience that makes for a truly memorable campaign—and a win-win for fashion girls who also happen to be Trekkies.
