Flower Arranging 101 With Team Zoe
‘Tis the season for family gatherings and general warm weather merriment – and nothing creates a festive atmosphere quite like a bouquet of fresh blooms.
We invited Eric Buterbaugh, chief floral designer behind revolutionary flower delivery service, The Bouqs Co., to teach Team Zoe the basics of flower arranging. The end results were nothing short of fun, color-happy magic. Click through to see how we did and for Eric’s step-by-step instructions.
Step 1: Select Your Blooms And Remove All Leaves And Thorns
“The Bouqs cut their flowers right from their eco-friendly farms and deliver them directly to you via FedEx. This means flowers stay fresh longer, up to 9 days with proper care!”
Step 2: Pick Your Vessel And Create A tape Guard
“It’s much easier to work on an arrangement with the help of a tape guard or some bunched up chicken wire at the bottom of the vase to hold stems in place”
Step 3: Cut Stems On An Angle
“To make flowers last longer, change water daily. Another option is to add a few drops of bleach into the water to prevent bacteria.”
Step 4: Start At The Edges Of Vase To Create A Frame Then Fill In
“Sometimes it’s nice to step back and look at the work in progress to reassess your design”
Step 5: Use Ruscus Leaves To Fill In Gaps
“Add pops of green to the finished arrangement, they act as accents and add texture.”
