It’s Here: Net-a-Porter x ‘The Hunger Games’
The incredibly talented (and ultra-chic) costume designer behind ‘Hunger Games: Catching Fire’, Trish Summerville, debuted her Hunger Games-inspired collection on Net-a-Porter today, and we’re loving every piece in the range. ‘Capitol Couture’ has everything from party dresses and trendy coats to edgy jewelry and leather bags, all built for for the Net-a girl and the ‘Hunger Games’ super-fan (how’s that for talent?), with prices that range from $75 all the way up to $995. If daring dresses and luxe leather separates are your thing, consider this one collaboration worth splurging on. Here, Summerville shares a little bit about the costumes for the new film and her collection for Net-a-Porter, exclusively with The Zoe Report.
The concept for the costumes in 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire'...
"We wanted to heighten the fashion of the film overall and also take into a darker, more saturated place with a more of an intense feel. That direction kind of goes hand in hand with where the story is going with the beginning of the rebellion and the strength that Katniss and Peeta are developing. So we wanted to just make it be a bit more stewed, a bit more fashionable and a bit moodier."

Designers who participated in the film...
"There are a lot of designers who I really pursued in participating in the film and we had such a great response from people who were interested in loaning us pieces or collaborating with us on pieces. It was really great to work with different creative groups of people from McQueen to Tex Saverio to local designers like Ser and Daniel Patrick and Maria Dora. It was this nice grouping that we had from really high-end couture designers to more local, ready to wear designers."

The concept behind the Capitol Couture collection for Net-a-Porter...
"Since ours is a small capsule collection we wanted to select pieces that you could have as an overall staple in your closet. We have the little black dress but then we have athletic wear like a yoga pant, track jacket and a mesh tank. So I think it's pieces that just fit in your wardrobe."
- Jacquard-Trimmed Jumpsuit, Capitol Couture by Trish Summerville $415
Captiol Couture versus Summerville's H&M collection for 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo'...
"Both are ideal retailers to have worked with because they are so vastly different so it challenged me in different ways. With H&M our capsule collection was 30 pieces and then with Net-a-Porter it's quite a bit smaller, the price point is higher and the quality of the fabrics is higher. It also helped that the characters and the stories are so vastly different between the two movies so the process was really creative and challenging in different ways."
