Nighttime Glam: The Vamp
While spring beauty normally conjures images of pastel polish, perky ponytails and pink cheeks, we love the idea of taking a typically wintery look and bringing it into the warm-weather season. Think: vampy blood red and deep violet lip colors, Hollywood-worthy waves and high gloss, smoky eyelids. Here, Joey Maalouf shows you how to get a softer, more natural version of these gorj trends in just a few easy steps. Finish with an LWD, barely-there sandals and bold baubles for a night-out look that will totally turn heads.
Get The Look
Step 1: Create A Dramatic Part
Dry and style hair so that it's anywhere from slightly wavy to straight in texture, then create a deep side part using a comb. Spray hair below part with hairspray, pressing down with your hand to smooth the section. Add heat with a hairdryer to completely set the look.
Step 2: Make Waves
Now that hair is parted and pulled to one side, add big, glamorous waves using a 1-2" curling iron. For a more natural look, leave ends of hair out of the curling iron and, after releasing each curl, tease and break up the section using your fingers. Finish with a shine-enhancing, frizz-control spray.
Step 3: Add Smoke And Gloss
Smoky, high gloss eye makeup adds a sense of mystery and allure to this look. To achieve the not-too-heavy hue apply a thick kohl eyeliner along lashline using fingers to blend and soften. Add gloss on top for added dimension, again using fingers to set the look. Groom brows and add one coat of black mascara as a final step.
Step 4: Paint Lips Deep Purple
Apply a deep purple or bordeaux-color lipstick to lips using a light hand then add a luxe, lacquer-like gloss in a similar color, starting in the middle and softly blending outwards to avoid product overload. If your clutch can only fit a few essentials, leave the lipstick behind and bring along the gloss to revive the look while out and about.
The Final Look
Glamorous, alluring and not at all complicated, this glam going-out look works with anything from a slinky sequin dress to bold suiting separates. We especially love it paired with spring's bright white pieces, for a cool contrast of light and dark.
