Gigi Hadid Just Made Denim On Denim Cool Again

Denim on denim outfits, better known as the Canadian tuxedo, haven't always been considered the epitome of style (think: Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake circa 2001). Gigi Hadid's most recent outfit choice may just change your opinion. Not only are denim on denim outfits incredibly easy to put together, the trend is also extremely versatile for any occasion.

Hadid was photographed out and about in New York City on Oct. 11 wearing a full denim look. The 23-year-old supermodel was headed to Vogue's Forces of Fashion Conference, where she sat on a panel and spoke alongside Kendall Jenner, Ashley Graham, and Paloma Elsseser. While conferences often call for formal attire like a pantsuit or sophisticated dress, Hadid opted for a contemporary update on the Canadian tuxedo. Spoiler alert: You're going to want to follow her lead.

Hadid wore a light-wash denim blazer with voluminous sleeves and a synched waist, topped off with matching biker shorts. For a subtle contrast, Hadid added a few metallic accessories, including pointed, silver Louboutins and a chrome, top handle bag. Hadid wore her long, golden-toned hair in tight waves, and her usual simple beauty look got an upgrade with a touch of sparkle on her eyelids.

Hadid's outfit is proof that denim-on-denim outfits deserve a spot in your fall lineup. Ahead, The Zoe Report breaks down the easiest ways to style all-denim outfits, as well as the best pieces to shop right this very second.

For Work

Denim? At work? Unheard of. While this isn't a suggestion to pull out your trusty distressed jeans for long day at the office, denim can work in your favor in a professional setting (if your office dress code permits, of course). Elevate your denim style at work by carefully selecting pieces that exude sophistication, even if the fabric itself doesn't. Wear a peplum, denim blazer on top of your favorite button-down, paired with ultra tailored, high-waisted jeans. Complete the elegant ensemble with suede pumps and an animal-print tote.

For A Night Out

Although denim isn't considered the most formal of fabrics, the universal favorite has more potential for dressing up than you'd think. Create the illusion of a sleek denim jumpsuit with a fitted top and high-waisted jeans. Wear them together for a night out with studded leather boots and a mini handle bag, or split up the pieces and add a midi skirt or an off-the-shoulder top.

For The Weekend

The idea of denim on a casual day is all too familiar, and it's understandable if you're bored of wearing jeans and a t-shirt for your Saturday afternoon activities. Instead, try combining a unique pair of jeans with a printed, chambray top. All you need to complete the look is a cozy cardigan, a pair of sneakers, and your favorite crossbody bag.
