While neutrals like deep gray and rich brown dominate the winter shopping sphere, who's to say colors should be seasonally restricted? Just take Kerry Washington's pink dress from Wed. afternoon as the ultimate proof that vivid hues should be worn year-round. If you're desperate to add something bold and bright to your wardrobe this season, the actor's latest ensemble is about to give you some much-needed inspiration.

Washington was seen leaving the Michael Kors show in New York City on Feb. 13 in an unexpectedly delicate shade of pink. The 42-year-old wore a bubblegum-colored, satin maxi dress by Michael Kors with puffy sleeves, a deep-v neckline, and an empire waist. She stayed warm by layering a mid-length, shag coat in beige on top, which created a distinct contrast when placed against the silky dress. Washington elevated her ensemble even further with a pair of pink snakeskin sandals with a sturdy block heel.

But the dress wasn't the only pinky-red hue in the actor's look. Known for her love of experimenting with bright and bold lipstick shades, Washington opted for a berry lip that paired perfectly with her understated glow, flushed cheeks, and stunning curls. The end result? A look that could brighten up even the dreariest of winter days.

Washington seems to have taken a deep dive into pink this season, as she's been photographed in the color on multiple occasions. She appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Jan. 31 wearing a sequined fuchsia midi skirt with a fringed hem, a matching long-sleeve knit, and a pair of rose gold mules with hot-pink accents.

The Scandal actor went for a lighter shade of blush for her appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Oct. 29, opting for a soft-pink trench by Mansur Gavriel and complementing pointed booties.
