How To Wear A Full-On Suit

The season of disco-era dresses and velvet-everything has come to end but there’s a whole new batch of chic ideas to get excited about this month. One of our favorite January dressing rituals: skipping the mini dresses and skirts in favor of full-on menswear looks fit for library-like bars, cozy restaurants and old world art houses. In search of the perfect Katharine Hepburn-inspired outfit yourself? We love this plaid ensemble snapped by street style photographer (and TZR favorite) Vanessa Jackman during fashion week.

Plaid Blazer

This double breasted wool blazer is the epitome of menswear chic. Wear it with boyfriend jeans, strappy heels and matte red lipstick for an alternative look.

Uniqlo, $30

White Shirt

Every woman needs a crisp white button-down in her wardrobe. This affordable option from Japanese brand Uniqlo is cut in a trim (but not tight) silhouette that really flatters.

L.A.M.B., $298

Plaid Trousers

The boxy, slightly slouchy cut of these pants creates just the right look with oversized cashmere sweaters, silk button-downs as well as the cool coordinating blazer.

Asos, $64

Patent Brogues

For an irreverent and ultra-chic twist pair the suit with high-shine brogues or oxford flats. Bare ankles are ideal for pulling off the ensemble!

Prada, $310

Tortoise Sunglasses

The perfect finishing touch to a serious and sophisticated look: movie star-worthy sunglasses that add just the right amount of drama.

Loeffler Randall, $395

Structured Tote

While this structured leather tote is super-practical (hel-lo double straps) the punk-inspired detailing gives it necessary edge.
