When it comes to treating acne, this soap uses sulfur, a slightly smelly ingredient that targets breakouts in four different ways: by killing acne-causing bacteria, calming redness, regulating oil production, and exfoliating dead skin cells. It’s sulfur’s antimicrobial properties that inhibit the growth of bacteria that contribute to acne, while its anti-inflammatory properties combat redness (not just for acne but for other skin conditions, like rosacea, as well). Additionally, the naturally occurring ingredient works to prevent excess oil production that can clog your pores as it smooths away dead skin cells that can get trapped in pores, too. Makari De Suisse’s Clear Acnyl Sulfur Soap gives you the active ingredient in the form of a bar soap that can be lathered up and used on the face and body. You can use this in the morning or at night (three times per week, max), allowing it to sit on your skin for about a minute before rinsing it off.
