It isn’t every day you see the Duchess of Cambridge wearing a tiara. In fact, today is only the third time Kate Middleton has rocked a diamond crown—including the one she famously donned on her wedding day. We love this refreshing moment of tradition to mark a special occasion—in this case the to a state dinner to welcome the President of China to Buckingham Palace—in an age of so much casual fashion. Of course, as style junkies we couldn’t help but wonder if this move was a subtle nod (or rebuttal?) to Saint Laurent’s Spring 2016 collection, where every runway look was finished with a delicate tiara paired with grunge-inspired separates. We suspect she sides with the tradition camp, but either way, the Duchess wears the crown beautifully and her red Jenny Packham dress only helps her case. Your move, Michelle Obama.
