Over the weekend, actor Jessica Henwick attended the 2nd annual Gold Gala, which honors and celebrates the AAPI community and its tastemakers. See how she got ready for the big night, ahead.

First up: a little hair prep. Stylist Marc Mena (who’s also worked with Jennifer Coolidge and Mindy Kaling, NBD) works his magic on Henwick.Andrew Ge

“Light green is a tricky one for my skin tone and Asian skin tones in general, but I’m taking a swing,” Henwick tells TZR when asked about her dress. (She can totally pull it off, by the way.)Andrew Ge
“The vibe we’re going for is pure celebration,” says Henwick. “The Gold Gala is about bringing the Asian Pacific community together to celebrate the incredible movement that’s happened the past year, and everything coming up.”Andrew Ge
Henwick’s dress was created by AAPI-owned brand Huishan Zhang. “I wanted to support an Asian designer and also wear something fun and different,” she says.Andrew Ge
“The chiffon sleeve cuffs are a beautiful detail, and add sharper lines to the dress,” she continues. “There's something very old Hollywood about the shape of [the look], from the cinched waist and the length to the strapless silk style. Zhang calls it Hitchcock-esque.”Andrew Ge
For accessories, Henwick looked for fun pieces that wouldn’t pull attention away from her gown. “What I love about Runa Concept is that the brand has a sense of humor,” she notes. “Plus this ring coordinates nicely with the gold theme.”Andrew Ge
