Changes are afoot in the UK right now—a new prime minister is likely to be installed this week, Christopher Bailey has been replaced as CEO at Burberry (don’t panic, he’s still the creative director) and now, Alexa Chung has announced the launch of her very own namesake clothing line. While each bit of news differs in significance depending on who you’re talking to, we’re all too excited about the latter. The model and TV host will debut a contemporary-priced collection, set to hit retailers, including matchesfashion.com, when it launches in May 2017, that will include denim, daywear, eveningwear, shoes and jewelry. After successful collabs with celebrated brands such as Madewell, AG and Marks & Spencer, the It Brit assumes the role of creative director of Alexachung. “I feel as though I’m kind of prepared to do it now,” she said. “If it had been any time sooner than this, I either wouldn’t be responsible enough or have been able to take on this kind of feat.” While not the first fashion girl to dabble in her own venture, we think Alexa has the chops to pull it off. Who doesn’t want to co-opt her highly covetable personal style, especially at an affordable price point? Let the countdown to 2017 begin.
