Getting dressed for a grand dinner party usually starts by selecting a few frocks and ends with every stitch of clothing from your closet strewn across the floor. When we heard Prince William and Kate Middleton hosted the Obamas for dinner in London, we couldn’t help but wonder if the same “what to wear” debacle ensued. Regardless, the results were, as always, incredibly chic and reflective of each woman’s personal style. The duchess opted for her go-to midi dress with a belted waist (sorry, the L.K. Bennett frock is already sold out!) and classic pumps, while the first lady did what she does best, rocking an unexpected color in a monochromatic head-to-toe look. While we were kind of sad Kate didn’t wear a crown, and secretly hoped the Queen would be there to chaperone, at least our favorite UK bachelor, Prince Harry, came along as the fifth wheel. Oh, what we wouldn’t give to have been a fly on the royal wall.
