It seems like ages ago that the fashion set was last hooked on colored denim. For so long, our attention has been drawn to true denim blues, vintage fades and raw washes. Given these classic styles go with just about everything in our wardrobes, it’s understandable that we’ve been reluctant to let them go. But once you start to realize you’ve reached for that good ol’ pair of jeans for the fourth (or fifth) time in a week, things inevitably start to feel a bit stale.
Thus, we’ve found ourselves reconsidering our colored denim options. We’ll admit, we were skeptical at first, haunted by the proliferation of the style back in its hay day. But once a few of our favorite, go-to denim brands started offering fresh takes on the saturated styles, we began to pay attention. Instead of the lengthy skinnies of the past, we’re seeing cropped tapered looks and culotte style options that feel a bit more modern and flattering. But even bright denim shorts and skirts can look polished when paired with classic tops and the right accessories. Ultimately, though, this look is meant to be fun, so don’t be afraid to pair your colored denim with anything just as bold.
Ruby Red
Dare to wear your bright jeans with an equally punchy top, and temper the look with neutral accessories.
Lavender Lady
Alternatively, ditsy prints or dainty florals can tone down an edgy denim color. Then, vintage-inspired add-ons will bring the outfit together.
Bright Blue
When in doubt, turn to classic pieces to complement your bold bottoms. Look for styles with special details to keep things interesting.
