Get A Room: Claridge’s Hotel In London

by Kate Wolfson

Her status as a sought-after Jill of all trades (designer, stylist, mom, author, etc.) finds our Editor-in-Chief traversing the globe on the regular. Anyone who spends time on the road will likely concur that one of the best parts of getting out of dodge is the promise of an exceptional hotel stay, complete with fluffy bedding, black-out curtains and, of course, room service.

It’s this very notion that inspired our freshly minted Get A Room series. Here, we spotlight iconic spaces all over the world side-by-side with the elements you need to capture each one’s distinct ambience in your own home. Kicking things off is the insanely glam Claridge’s hotel in London’s Mayfair neighborhood. The Art Deco palace oozes old-world charm, elegance and a unique brand of understated ritziness. It also happens to be one of Rachel Zoe’s favorite home-away-from-home spots in the entire world. Cheerio!

A trip across the pond not on the agenda? No problem. We scoured the web for the pieces you need to give your humble abode a palatial makeover. Because really, there’s no place like home.

The Royal Suite

File this under things that are actually fit for a queen. Charming Victorian elements and a grey and blue color palette give the 2-bedroom abode a romantic feel. Oh, and did we mention the room comes with personal butler service?

The beauty of filling your home with pretty tomes is that they double as décor. Assouline has a book to fit every taste, interest and budget.

Afternoon Tea At The Foyer

The folks at Claridge’s take the national ritual of afternoon tea very seriously.

Start your own teatime tradition with an adorable, striped saucer-and-cup combo, one of Jonathan Adler’s kitschy cookie jars and a pile of delicious scones.

The Grand Piano Suite

Claridge’s tapped legendary designer (and one of our fabulous Women Of Style) Diane von Furstenberg to infuse the hotel’s classic Grand Piano Suite with her signature color-happy prints. The result is a space any fashion girl would be happy to call home for a long weekend.

Even if mixing prints isn’t your cup of tea, any living space can benefit from a burst of color be it in the form of a wild rug, a fun throw pillow or a punchy accent chair.

The DVF Bedroom

This geometric black-and-white print looks just as gorgeous adorning a dreamy bedroom as it would one of DVF's signature wrap dresses.
