How To Make A Dirty Shirley, Summer 2022’s It-Drink
And more soda-filled cocktails to enjoy.

The Dirty Shirley, an alcoholic take on the Shirley Temple, has been dubbed the It-drink of summer. The classic recipe calls for about two ounces vodka and one ounce grenadine. Add both to a highball glass with ice, and top with about eight ounces lemon-lime soda. Garnish with a maraschino cherry.

For La Batanga, salt the rim of a highball glass and fill it with ice. Add one and a half ounces
El Tequileño Blanco
and a quarter ounce lime juice. Top with Mexican Coca-Cola. Stir with a knife to honor the iconic drink's creator, Don Javier of the world-famous La Capilla in Tequila, Mexico.

by Cara Campbell of The Gourmet Bon Vivant, rim your glasses with graham cracker crumbs. Separately, combine two ounces strawberry syrup and vodka each in a cocktail shaker filled halfway with ice. Shake for 30 seconds. Strain into glass and top with cream soda and a fresh strawberry.

To make the Mijita, muddle together three ounces

For this Party Punch, add two cups
Dos Hombres Mezcal
, one and a half cups pomegranate juice, a half cup fresh orange juice, a quarter cup lime juice, one-eighth cup orgeat syrup, and two cups blood orange soda to a punch bowl with ice and stir. Garnish with orange slices, lime slices, and pomegranate seeds.

For the Shirley Templeton, combine two ounces
Templeton Rye 4 Year
and four to seven ounces lemon lime soda in a tumbler or Collins glass filled with ice. Top with grenadine until the drink is pink in color. Garnish with a maraschino cherry.

to your chilled glass. Fill with cracked ice. Slowly pour in four to five ounces cola soda. Garnish with a lime wedge.

The Wild Beery Bathtub Gin by Ken Meehan, Assistant Director of Food and Beverage at Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races, includes one and a fourth ounces moonshine, a quarter ounce wild berry syrup, and two ounces sour mix. Combine in a mason jar with ice and fill with lemon lime soda. Add fresh berries for garnish.
