I Tried 30 Different Workouts In 30 Days, And This Is What Happened

After more than two years of inconsistent workouts (thanks a lot, Netflix), I randomly decided to challenge myself to attempt 30 different workouts in 30 days. If this sounds insane, it’s because it is. It’s also one of the best things I’ve ever done. As someone who tends to stay inside her comfort zone when it comes to fitness—I generally find a class and stick with it like glue for years—it was incredibly daunting to try a new, unfamiliar workout every single day. When it came to physical comfort though, it wasn’t nearly as painful as I thought it would be. In fact, it wasn’t bad at all. Though I basically dreaded my workouts every single day, once I conquered a class, I felt better than I had in months, maybe even years—not just physically but mentally too. It might well be true that exercise has the same effect on happiness levels as an anti-depressant. There were many, many days I wouldn’t have bothered with a workout if I hadn’t made this (work-related) promise to myself, and now that it’s completed, I wish someone would make me do it all over again.
