As the final days of 2018 tick off one after another, no question seems to spike quite as enthusiastically as “what are you doing for New Year’s Eve?” If you’ve planned out an elaborate getaway complete with sequined dresses and champagne toasts, then you’re inevitably jubilant to answer said question. If you’re like this author and still have yet to make plans, your answer might be a bit more muted. But, don't knock a casual New Year's Eve or the comfy-cute outfits that go right along with it just yet.

Even if you’re laying low on New Year’s Eve, if you’re reading this it’s fair to assume you haven’t resigned yourself to oversized sweats just yet. Regardless of how casual your night may be, there are still plenty of approaches to dressing that feel simultaneously festive and laidback. Taking a cue from some of your favorite casual-cool dressers on Instagram, the ten inspiring outfits below illustrate how to exude a soiree-ready attitude without going over the top. Think a flash of velvet, a glitzy pair of earrings, wintery white knits—you get the picture. And to help aid your cute-meets-casual endeavors, don’t miss the shopping picks that accompany each ensemble.

Outfit #1: Sheer Perfection

@champagnemani

If you’re up for a little see-through action, consider a sheer top paired with your favorite Lacey bralette. Polish it off with blue jeans to keep everything feeling effortless and a petite purse for a charming finish. (The one seen here on Imani is from Maison Cleo, but it's sold out.)

Outfit #2: Monochrome Maven

@claire_most

All it takes is a top and bottom in matching hues to make your look feel instantly pulled together. To make it feel festive, try one of the pieces in velvet or satin.

Outfit #3: Sleepy Pants

@daily_sleeper

You know the fashion industry's opinion toward the pajama dressing trend is favorable, so it’s no surprise there’s a pair of fancy pjs in the mix. Accessorize with a mini bag and mules.

Outfit #4: Slip It To Me

@deborarosa

Anyone who’s ever invested in a silk slip dress knows the power of this alluring staple. Toss a blazer on top and finish off with strappy low-heel sandals.

Outfit #5: Suit Up and Get Down

@helenacuesta

Layer your favorite band tee with a relaxed suit in a crimson hue.

Outfit #6: Color Coordinated

@iambeauticurve

Who says red and green is reserved for Christmas? Wear these complimentary colors in a creative way to ring in the new year.

Outfit #7: Sweet and Soft

@maria_bernad

There’s something about a textural sweater and slip skirt that makes you want to cozy up beside a fireplace and reflect on 2018—champagne in hand, naturally.

Outfit #8: Here For the Hosiery

@sabinasocol

This may seem like a high-impact look but all you need to look just as amazing is a LBD and pair of textural tights. Voila!

Outfit #9: Human Disco Ball

@sophiaroe

Take the party to your earlobes with a pair of crystal chandelier earrings styled with a statement top and your favorite denim.

Outfit #10: Party Animal

@tylauren

Ok, so even if you’re not taking a turn under the disco ball, an animal-print top alongside a furry bag is still appropriate.
