Sure, sticking to your low-maintenance, everyday beauty routine is probably easy — especially come summertime when it's too hot to make a real effort. Still, the best way to keep a routine from turning into a rut is to try something new. This season, don't resist the urge to test out the top summer 2019 makeup trends, especially because they deviate from your light base and neutral lip. Trust: There are plenty of ways to try new trends without sacrificing the ease that you crave.
If adding a hint of the neon — the trend that won't quit — to your makeup lineup is too intimidating, try the minimal eyeliner look that Jaleesa Jaikaran, an editorial makeup artist, is into these days. It's easy and barely takes additional time when getting ready, but with proper execution, it looks like it took a team of artists to complete. Or if you do just want to enhance your sun-kissed skin, bronzers are on-trend and a foolproof way to add glow to your face and décolletage. And of course, no trend roundup is complete without a little bit of glitter in the mix. Take a few notes from celebrity makeup artist Michael Anthony who layered a warm rosy eyeshadow with a bit of shimmer for Rita Ora.

Minimal Neon Eyeliner
"Neon is definitely having a moment — I see it being used more minimally, though," Jaikaran says. If you're new to bold eyeliner or want to brush up on your wing technique, Jaikaran recommends breaking up the line into three parts. "Trying to do it in one go can be stressful," she says. Start with the inner third of your lash line, but instead of continuing on, stop and make sure that you have coverage and an even line. Then continue doing the next two parts of your eye, stopping and connecting as you go.
Maximum Neon Lids
If a line isn't enough, then try giving your eyes a whole burst of color. "I think it's safe to say that pops of neon eyeshadow are making a comeback this summer," Ash K. Holm, a makeup artist who counts Kim Kardashian and Ariana Grande as clients, says. "Anything from a subtle inner corner pop of hot pink eyeshadow to lower lash line colored eyeliner works." Holm recommends using Fenty's new Bae Watch vivid liquid eyeliner, since it has an easy-to-use brush applicator for a quick application.
Glittery Lids
This summer, be prepared to see a lot of warm, rosy, "blown out" eye shadow accented with beautiful lashes and touches of glitter, Anthony says. "Not like solid gold as in the past, but more pinks and velvety-looking rose tones."
To achieve that can't-miss-it pigment, don’t apply foundation or concealer to the eyelids before attempting this look, Anthony suggests, as it's best to be able to remove and refine the look without having to patch it up later. For a glittery top layer, as seen on Rita Ora, use a thin brush to apply one layer on top. Clean the edges by using a clean mascara wand to scrape the glitter onto your eyelid or into a cat eye."
Sun-Kissed Bronzer
"Bronzer is definitely back as well," Jaikaran notes. "Brands like Fenty Beauty and Marc Jacobs are giving more options when it comes to glow for everyone." No matter how you apply your bronzer, it’s always best to go one or two shades darker than your skin tone, she says. Pro tip: Use a fluffy brush so your bronzer looks more diffused as opposed to angular. You can also apply bronzer to the temples and hairline to increase your subtle shimmer.
Dewy Summer Skin & Lips
"I'm seeing lots of fresh and dewy skin that’s sheer enough to let the freckles through," celebrity makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan tells The Zoe Report. This requires a tiny bit of prepping that's well worth the extra steps. "I’ve been loving the Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet and La Mer The Eye Concentrate. A great tip is to take your current foundation and mix a little moisturizer in with it to create more of a tint, she notes.
Opaque Nude Lip Gloss
"I think lips are so personal, and a lot of people stick with what they know works for themselves," Anthony tells TZR. "Nudes will always be on trend, and I’ve noticed people using more opaque shades in the center of the lips for a natural sheen."
Big Brows
"I love a fresh bushy brow to finish off my summer look," makeup artist Jenna Kristina says. Simply take a brow gel in a shade that's close to your natural hairs, brush up, and go.
