Bella Hadid Just Made The “Naked” Dress Trend Look So Elegant
It wouldn't have been a night with Bella Hadid if the model hadn't showed up in sheer. The 22-year-old has almost singlehandedly coined the "naked" look that no red carpet is without these days. Perhaps her most elegant take on the daring theme to date is Bella Hadid's latest 2019 Cannes Film Festival dress.
Shailene Woodley, Sara Sampaio, and Priyanka Chopra were just a few of the big names who made their 2019 Cannes debut during the premiere of Rocketman on Thurs. The red carpet was brimming with giant ballgowns and sparkling sequins, but Hadid stuck with what she knows, and that's sheer.
Her Dior Haute Couture gown was, however, a new approach to her usual theme. The model took a break from her favorite bodysuits and cut-out silhouettes and opted instead for a night of elegance in the form of head-to-toe pleated ruffles. A frilly white ballgown gave the edgy model an ethereal look, but those who examined closely would notice that much of it was actually see-through.
Around her torso and on her sweeping skirt were spiraling tiers of transparent tulle. The fairytale-like ballgown all but sparkled, but there was certainly no shortage of bling. Hadid accessorized with stunning diamond-drop earrings and a cuff bracelet adorned with sapphire and emeralds.
She paired the glamorous look with a side-swept messy bun in true Hadid style and finished with soft makeup, also courtesy of Dior. Her usual stylist, Mimi Cuttrell — who dresses sister Gigi and Priyanka Chopra, too — was, of course, the mastermind behind this angelic moment.
The Dior dress is proof that although sheer is notoriously daring, it can be made chic and sophisticated just the same. You don't have to be a supermodel or be invited to a red carpet to try the "naked" trend.
