Blake Lively Tried Out The Blazer-Dress Trend With A Super-Bold Look
Considering her affinity for suits, its no surprise that Blake Lively is trying out the blazer-dress trend. The A Simple Favor actor spent her Thurs. evening at a screening of Mary Poppins Returns in New York, and being the fashion girl she is, she sported the boldest new trend. Perhaps it's time to take menswear to the next level with some help from Lively.
At first glance, Lively's outfit looks like a flowy asymmetric coat over a pinstriped dress, but a closer look will reveal it's actually an all-in-one piece. The wool-blend number by Monse features angled buttons and a diagonal hem. Like your average blazer, it has notched lapels, flap pockets, and a sleek, tailored torso. With contrast lines on the front, the piece descends into a skirt that exposes white pinstriped lining.
And as if the blazer dress wasn't trend-forward enough on its own, the actor paired hers with clashing pumps: black and red with silver glitter-dipped toes. Her hair was down in her usual long curls and she, of course, topped the look off with her signature red lip.
If you haven't heard, blazer dresses — also called tuxedo dresses — are quickly becoming a must-have piece. Zara, L'Agence, Theory, and J.O.A. are all offering their own versions of the trend these days.
Kim Kardashian sported a Vivienne Westwood blazer dress to New York Fashion Week and Reese Witherspoon dazzled in one by Stella McCartney at the Emmys. Karlie Kloss even wore one to the 2017 Met Gala.
Confirmed: this is not one of those things that Lively wears once and then it goes away. You need to get on board with the blazer dress before your friends beat you to it. Even though Blake Lively's exact dress is no longer available, these The Zoe Report-approved pieces have you covered.
