Charlize Theron Tried Out Micro Bangs & Looks *So* Different
Charlize Theron has been serving up killer looks left and right this week. On Tues., the actor stepped for the New York City premiere of her latest film project, Long Shot, and everyone's eye immediately went to her freshly unveiled blunt bangs. Yep, Theron is the latest celeb to tackle super-straight fringe this season, proving the micro trend is here to stay.
Theron’s first major hair transformation of the year came during the 2019 Oscars. The actor debuted a dark-brown hue that was quite a departure from the signature blonde shade she sported for years prior. Since the Feb. awards show, she’s switched off styling her brown bob in more subtle ways — until April 30, that is.
Theron showed off a fresh set of blunt baby bangs on Tues. evening's red carpet — and she looked nearly unrecognizable. Her fringe was courtesy of celeb hair guru Adir Abergel, who took to Instagram to share a snap of the actor mid transformation.
Abergel explained in a press release that Theron is quite a risk taker when it comes to her beauty looks — something that prompted her to go from blonde to brunette back in Feb., and most recently, test drive a set of (faux) bangs, the latest hair craze that's taken the celeb world by storm.
"For the [Long Shot] premiere, we wanted to push it just a little bit further, and I decided to give her some faux bangs," Abergel shared, noting that he looked to the '90s for inspiration — a decade that's been a major source of influence both in beauty and in fashion this season.
"My inspiration for [Tues. night's] look is an image of Linda Evangelista from the '90s. Linda was always bold with her looks and so is Charlize," he added.
Theron's bold baby bangs were accompanied by equally dramatic makeup, consisting of a gold smoky eye, big lashes, and a bright-red lip, all of which proved to be the perfect complement to her sleek black tuxedo, too.
It's no secret that fringe is back in a big way this year. Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian, and now Theron have all opted for some version of the bold cut.
