The '80s are experiencing a major renaissance right now — and not just in the world of fashion. The decade has officially started to influence beauty looks too, with Chrissy Teigen's new bob haircut being the latest proof that retro-inspired styles are back and better than ever. If you've been itching for a change this season, the model's choppy, layered bob may just convince to go full '80s glam at your next salon visit.
Though she's certainly no stranger to switching up her hair every now and then — she's dyed it darker, worn it shoulder length, and rocked blunt bangs — Teigen's signature style has generally been long, sun-kissed waves. And even though she's sported shoulder-grazing bobs in the past (and fringe, too) she's never combined the two styles in one, until now.
On Mon., celeb stylist Laura Polko, took to Instagram to unveil the fresh chop she gave Teigen: a wispy, shoulder-grazing bob and long, eye-skimming bangs. It channeled the '80s in the best way — and, according to Polko's caption, that's actually what she was going for.
"@chrissyteigen x Scarface...," Polko wrote next to an image of Teigen's über-glam new look, alluding to that fact that the true source of inspiration for the retro-inspired cut was Michelle Pfeiffer's iconic hairstyle in Scarface. And although it's still unclear whether the model's chop is permanent or just a temporary wig, one thing is certain: Teigen looks stunning.
With spring just around the corner, it should come as no surprise that everyone has been itching for a transformation, whether it's more subtle or extremely dramatic. Amongst the celeb set, said change has come in the form of bob haircuts — and it's easy to see why. Shorter cuts are oftentimes easier to manage, deeming them the ultimate low-maintenance pick, and they're ideal for those super-hot spring (and summer) days.
Teigen is the latest to go short ahead of the new season's official arrival, joining a long list of celebs, including Julia Roberts and Kris Jenner, who have recently debuted their fresh bobs on Instagram.
So, if you're looking to liven up a basic bob, make like Teigen and go full '80s by adding in wispy bangs, too. The finishing touches to the retro-inspired hairstyle? Flipped ends and lots of shine, which can be achieved with The Zoe Report's roundup of must-have products, below.
