Even though there are plenty of great prints to pick from right now — from bold animal motifs to quirky tie-dye patterns — the celeb set has been quite keen to one-tone ensembles as of late. There's something so utterly sleek and chic about wearing a single hue from head-to-toe, and Ciara's all-white outfit is the latest piece of proof. So, forget the outdated style rule that says you can't wear the optic shade after Labor Day, because as the singer's monochromatic look makes very clear, you certainly can (and you 100 percent should).

It was nearly impossible to miss Ciara on the streets of the Big Apple on Weds. morning. The music mogul made quite the splash in an optic white ensemble that popped against NYC's gray streets, stopping to pose with onlookers whilst en route to an appearance on the Today show.

Considering the rise in popularity of one-tone ensembles, Ciara's all-white look shouldn't be a total surprise, though it does challenge the long-held style notion that white isn't really a winter hue. It most certainly is — you just have to choose cold weather-friendly pieces.

In Ciara's case, her monochromatic outfit consisted of a white turtleneck midi dress — a key piece with which to tackle the always-tricky transitional season. Over top, the singer layered a floor-grazing trench coat that added extra warmth and dimension, while a pair of white, mesh ankle strap pumps rounded out the look effortlessly.

Ciara's pulled her shiny black hair into a half updo that's super easy to recreate — all you need is some shine-spray, a straightener, and a no-show hair elastic. A swipe of high-shine gloss completed the singer's on-duty outfit. So angelic, Ciara!

While there's so much to learn from Ciara's latest look, the main takeaway is exactly how to wear white in the winter. The answer? Reach for pieces rendered in heavier fabrics, like cashmere, wool, or a cozy cotton — and don't be afraid to mix and match textures or styles, either.
