Ciara Proved This Unlikely Piece Makes For A No-Fail Date-Night Outfit
Everyone loves the convenience of a one-and-done outfit. Not only does it instantly take the guesswork out of getting ready, but it saves you serious time and stress — especially when you find yourself in a time crunch. Jessica Alba's jumpsuit is the easiest thing to slip into when you're heading out for a day of running errands (and want a bit of a workwear edge), while Ciara's blazer dress makes for a no-fail date-night ensemble you can always fall back on when you're fresh out of ideas.
The music mogul never fails to serve up one show-stopping look after the other, whether that's whilst walking the red carpet of a major event — case in point: her 2019 BET Awards getup — or simply strolling the streets of L.A. or New York City. It's been a while since Ciara's blessed the fashion-obsessed with a major dose of sartorial goodness, but alas, the time came on Tues. evening, when the singer stepped out for date night with husband, Russell Wilson.
Ciara and Wilson celebrated their three-year wedding anniversary on July 6 — and it appears they're keeping that celebratory streak going well into the week. On July 9, the power couple was photographed out and about in West Hollywood., stopping by celeb-favorite eatery Catch LA for a romantic dinner date.
Wilson looked dashing in black trousers, a black blazer with glittery lapels, and a relaxed tee. Ciara, sticking with the business-chic theme, stunned in a black blazer dress by Versace. The refined frock features a classic double-breasted silhouette, gold buttons that pop against the black base, and two cutout slits (one on the right shoulder and the other one along the left thigh) that are fastened with large gold safety pins.
Ciara chose to take a minimalist route with her accessories, opting only for a handful of rings that dazzled with each flashing camera light. Thin-strapped heels grounded her blazer dress outfit effortlessly, while a silvery, smoky eye and a pale-pink pout added a dash of evening drama.
Blazer dresses have enjoyed their time in the spotlight for a while now — and they're certainly not losing their appeal anytime soon. Countless celebs have hopped on the blazer dress trend, from protocol-bending royal Meghan Markle to fashion powerhouse, Blake Lively and now, Ciara.
The best part about the sophisticated, menswear-inspired staple is its versatility. You can wear it to work, for a day of strolling around the city, or for a night out on the town — all you have to do is adjust the styling accordingly.
