The official start of fall means it's time restock your closet with cozy knits — and Claire Foy's oversized cardigan should be one of them. The actor turned up at BBC Radio 2 in London on Thurs., likely to talk about her new role in First Man alongside costar Ryan Gosling, sporting a super-relaxed, autumn-ready look. Her fuzzy mohair sweater will make you want to wear oversized cardigans on their own all season long.

Foy's sweater is Ganni's $280 Callahan Oversized Ribbed-Knit Cardigan — it's made of the coziest blend of mohair and soft wool to keep you warm on these chilly fall days. The cream-colored sweater has a deep-v neckline, tortoiseshell buttons, and a relaxed, slouchy fit that Foy pulls off so well tucked into the front of her high-waisted jeans. She opted to wear the staple piece on its own, sans undershirt, just like Bella Hadid at New York Fashion Week.

The Crown actor is a master of feminine style. Her impeccable off-duty look always has a touch of elegance (think: tucked-in collared button-ups, bows, fun prints, and flowy fits). Her latest cardigan look is no exception — Foy styled it with just enough edge to contrast her soft aesthetic.

This age-old wardrobe staple is no new piece, but the old-school grandma sweater, however, in the midst of a very necessary makeover. In fact, the basic cardigan has made an appearance on several runways lately: Gucci styled them with midi-length skirts, while Miuccia Prada paired open, oversized cardigans with pencil skirts. It's the essential layering piece that every woman needs, and the likes of known cardigan fans like Selena Gomez and Kate Bosworth agree.

A slouchy cardigan can look frumpy, so it's important to style it right. As with Foy's look, you can wear your oversized sweater buttoned-up and tucked into your favorite jeans, or open over a silky slip dress (which, by the way, is a great way to wear your summer dress into fall). Pair this neutral cardigan over your fall midi dress and booties or tuck it into a flouncy maxi skirt in a rich autumnal color. The contrast of a high collar or turtleneck works well with a slouchy cardigan, too.

Layer this versatile piece over anything you want, or let it stand alone. However you choose to style it, it's clear you need one ASAP. Ahead, The Zoe Report's favorite Claire Foy-inspired, oversized sweaters.
