This Diane Kruger-Approved Styling Trick Instantly Takes A Suit To New Heights
Thurs. proved to be quite the busy day for Diane Kruger, who paraded around a rainy Big Apple in serious style, smiling for the photographers as though she was completely unfazed by the downpour. The German beauty's morning kicked off with a taping for Live with Kelly and Ryan and ended with a quick visit to the SiriusXM Studios. Perhaps unsurprisingly, such a jam-packed schedule called for an ensemble that was equal parts comfy, walking-friendly, and refined — and Kruger's suit with white sneakers outfit could not have been more ideal.
Kruger always manages to keep the style-obsessed on their feet, particularly because she churns out consistently fresh, unexpected getups. Whether it's a red-carpet gathering that includes a pair of jaw-droppingly expensive earrings (looking at you, 2019 CFDA Awards look) or a leopard-print coat moment that's so good, even the most pattern-shy of person would consider copying it, the 43-year-old isn't afraid to mix it up with her fashion choices. It should come as no surprise, then, that Kruger has officially found the coolest way to wear a power suit — and no, heels are not involved.
On Thurs., Kruger looked like a monochrome dream in a pale-blue set, which included loose-fitting, extra-long trousers and a coordinating blazer (complete with a belted waist and sharp shoulders). The suit's oversized, nonchalant silhouette wasn't even the coolest thing about the getup, though. The actor's shoes of choice were.
Power suits and power pumps go together like summer picnics and rosé, but Kruger decided to throw a serious style curveball into the mix. She skipped heels altogether, and instead, opted for the ultimate comfort-cool shoe: chunky white sneakers that slightly peeked out from underneath the trousers' floor-grazing hemline. If you thought the actor's suit felt too stuffy, the trainers are sure to make you think otherwise.
Suits and sneakers are destined to be the next it-combo — plain and simple. Dakota Fanning stepped out in the pairing on April 27; Tracee Ellis Ross tested it out for herself back in Jan.; and Kruger just took it out for a spin Thurs. morning. Next up, it's your turn.
