Biker shorts are the latest thing in athleisure, and Gigi Hadid wears them fiercely. On Wed., the model dressed up her sporty shorts with a long black robe and suede Stuart Weitzman sock booties ahead of her fitting for the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Though the trend is bold, Gigi Hadid's biker shorts were subtly sophisticated and subdued.
Hadid isn't shy when it comes to experimenting with new trends (often times before they even become trends), and this time, she wore workout-ready bicycle shorts in the most stylish way. The day before sporting an enormous peacock parachute on the catwalk of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, the model turned up at the lingerie brand's Midtown headquarters for her fitting in an impeccable off-duty outfit, including $18 shorts.
The 23-year-old wore a pair of super-affordable cycling shorts by one of Aritzia's in-house labels, Tna. Hitting mid-thigh, these fitted bottoms are made with a stretchy cotton jersey that provides flexibility and supreme comfort. They come in seven different colors, but Hadid opted for the navy-blue hue.
Hadid tucked a fall-ready tangerine hoodie into the hip and layered a cozy, ankle-grazing robe coat with orange pockets over it. The model put a high-fashion spin on her athletic shorts by pairing the look with sleek suede sock boots by Stuart Weitzman and a mini crocodile-embossed black-and-white handbag.

Fendi paired them with a menswear-style button-up tops and square-toed flats, while Area styled a printed pair with a matching midriff-baring cape. Dior's peeked out under a see-through maxi skirt and both Roberto Cavalli and Chanel paired theirs with feminine, tailored jackets.
Kim Kardashian is known to sport cycling shorts with crop tops and has even worked the trend into a recent red-carpet look. Similarly, Emily Ratajkowski paired hers with a cropped hoodie and Hailey Baldwin wore a sleek knit turtleneck with sleek bike shorts. Hadid has worked them into a handful of her off-duty looks, too.
In Sept., the model sported black bike shorts with an oversized long-sleeved t-shirt and another pair of sock booties, then almost immediately after, she wore them in white with a blue-and-purple pinstriped button-up that she let hang off her shoulder. Her latest look, however, is perhaps the most accessible way she's sported the trend.
If the thought of wearing spandex outside of the gym makes you uneasy, then copy Hadid and wear them under a long coat for more coverage. Skip the crop top combo and opt for a loose-fitting knit or button-up to balance out the silhouette. It doesn't have to look athletic, either.
