The glamorous red-carpet events are showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. First, it was the 2019 Governors Awards that offered up a plethora of style inspiration, from J. Lo's sunny yellow frock to Dakota Johnson's frothy Brandon Maxwell look that set the sartorial world ablaze. Now, it's the 2019 Angel Ball and specifically, Heidi Klum's dress, that people can't seem to stop talking about. Prepare to obsess over the way the model made the controversial sheer trend look incredibly elegant.

On Oct. 28, a flock of exceptionally dressed celebs headed to the SoHo's iconic Cipriani building to attend the 2019 Angel Ball, an annual fundraising event that "honors those outstanding individuals who have made significant humanitarian and philanthropic contributions in support of cancer research," per the website.

The event boasted a star-studded guest list that included the likes of Coco Rocha, Devon Windsor, Keke Plamer, and of course, Klum, who walked the black carpet arm-in-arm with husband, Tom Kaulitz. The Tokio Hotel guitarist looked dapper in a cobalt-blue tuxedo, while the German supermodel was the epitome of ethereal in an airy gown from Iris van Herpen's Fall/Winter 2019 couture collection.

Klum's 2019 Angel Ball gown was a true work of art, as many of Iris van Herpen's pieces tend to be. The Dutch fashion designer isn't afraid to push the boundaries with her complex creations — and the supermodel's floor-length gown is one great example of said intricacies.

It features long, extra-voluminous off-the-shoulder sleeves that mimic wings, and it's crafted from a sheer, multi-colored fabric that appears to be as light as air.

Considering the gown's statement-making nature, it was a smart style move to keep the other pieces (i.e., shoes) quite simple and uncomplicated. Strappy metallic heels rounded out the evening look effortlessly.

Klum's 2019 Angel Ball dress is yet another example of how to wear the sheer trend this season — and while you might not be able to slip into a frock as bold as the model's on a daily basis, it does prove that there are more elegant ways to get in on the transparent fashion craze.
