Hilary Duff Just Said Goodbye To Her Bob — & Her New Look Is So Easy To Copy
Well that didn't last long. Just one month after making a major chop, Hilary Duff's long hair is back once more — how's that for keeping everyone on their toes? And though the star's time sporting the currently-trendy bob was about as short as the cut itself, it's definitely not bad news because now she's serving no shortage of inspiration for the long-haired ladies who've resisted the urge to shear their strands. Send your thanks directly Duff's way.
It's been a whirlwind month for Hilary Duff. The actress just got back from a dreamy safari honeymoon in South Africa with new husband Matthew Koma, after tying the knot in an intimate ceremony at home in Los Angeles on Dec. 21. And just days before the quiet, elegant wedding, Duff did something many brides wouldn't dream of doing: She chopped off several inches off her hair, effectively joining the growing group of celebs with bob styles.
But her bob, which was tucked behind her ears and texturized with subtle waves to accentuate her modern, minimalist wedding gown, unexpectedly bid adieu on Jan. 16 — which means the shoulder-grazing mane lasted just under a month. So long, short hair.
Duff broke the news herself with a post on her Instagram (above), which playfully pointed out that the sudden transformation was courtesy of some expertly placed extensions. "Whoa @riawna how’d you make my hair grow like this over night??? Cool trick cool trick," Duff captioned the photo, tagging hairstylist Riawna Capri of Los Angeles' Nine Zero One salon.
The extensions bring Duff's length well below her shoulders and have been precisely blended with her bright blonde color, which remains intact. Then Capri styled the strands in one of Duff's go-to ways, with effortless, lived-in waves that are surely easy for the busy mom of two to recreate on the daily.
No word on whether the move was necessary for work (though that Lizzie McGuire reboot has filmed a couple episodes), but either way it's proof that long hair isn't a long-gone trend. And clearly, nobody's too broken up about the bob's disappearance: Fellow actress Emma Roberts commented on the photo with "😍😍😍" to express her approval, and hairstylist Nikki Lee (who styled Duff's wedding day hair) responded "Sooo good! 😍."
