How To Wear A Cardigan As A Shirt The Margot Robbie Way
The best investment pieces are those you can wear in more than one way. A staple that serves double purpose not only comes with a great cost per wear, but it's also so easy to switch up the look and feel without much effort. That's why you should learn how to wear a cardigan as a shirt this season — a style hack that street-style stars like Bella Hadid and, more recently, Margot Robbie are fond of. One look at Robbie's latest cold-weather ensemble, and you'll be inspired to scoop up a new cardigan (or three).
In late March of this year, it was revealed that Robbie was the latest Chanel ambassador, joining the likes of Penélope Cruz and Kristen Stewart as the face of the French fashion house. As such, it should come as no surprise that the I, Tonya actor has been turning out a handful of delightful looks, all of which are, of course, Chanel designs. Who remembers that iconic Victorian-era gown Robbie wore back in Nov.? — Chanel, again.
But Robbie's latest look from the French fashion house was a bit more, well, everyday friendly. On Dec. 3, she was photographed out and about in New York City, and though it was a chilly, windy day, her look infused the streets of the Big Apple with seriously cozy vibes. Her simple outfit is bound to become your new go-to formula when you're looking for a no-fuss yet stylish combo to wear this winter. Best of all, though? It shows just how easy it is to wear a cardigan as a shirt.
The actor donned a pair of super-wide leg Chanel jeans and a blue-and-white cardigan that was adorned with the brand's name across the chest. But rather than wearing it as a traditional cardigan, just as the model did who first debuted the look on the Spring 2019 runway, Robbie chose to put her own spin on it and rock it as a top instead.
Robbie rounded out her look with a pair of black, strappy heels by New York-based shoe label Alumnae that perfectly tied in with her black Chanel circle bag. She wore her platinum-blonde locks parted down the middle, with her signature textured waves blowing in the wind.
The main takeaway from Robbie's casual, daytime look? Now is officially the time to pull out (or invest in) those cropped cardigans you wore nonstop in high school. It's so easy to breathe new life into the piece, and make it feel fresh and up-to-date. Simply take notes from the slew of celebrities — Robbie included — who have opted to wear the staple on its own.
