The Perfect Spring Skirt Exists — & Katie Holmes Just Found It
April showers in New York City didn't stop Katie Holmes from wearing her brightest blue skirt on Mon. This girl is ready for some spring weather and she's not afraid to show it. Her vibrant ensemble brought some welcomed color to the red carpet of the Tribeca Film Festival.
Holmes spent Easter weekend in France alongside her daughter and mini-me Suri, presumably eating Pâté de Pâques and taking notes on what all the chic Parisian ladies wear. Her quick trip across the pond seemed to have paid off because the actor is looking fashionable as ever since returning to the states.
Almost immediately after touching down in New York, the Batman Begins actor was all dressed up in a pretty aqua midi and a colorful striped button-up at Thalassa Restaurant, where she presented one filmmaker with a million-dollar check during the Untold Stories Luncheon.
Holmes' bright outfit complemented the spring rain so well. She tucked a rainbow-striped button-front blouse into a pleated midi skirt the color of a robin's egg. The cotton skirt, by Forte Forte, features an asymmetrical shape and girly bow detail.
The bubbly teal color of the skirt brought out the subtle blues of Holmes' shirt, which incorporated pinks and yellows, too.
Holmes left the top of her blouse unbuttoned to show off layered gold necklaces and topped the look off with simple nude pumps. Her aqua skirt was the obvious MVP of her outfit, and — lucky for you — so easy to copy.
It's already clear that the statement skirt is going to be Holmes' go-to piece this spring. Earlier in the month, she wore a floral version by Ulla Johnson on the red carpet of Cinemacon in Las Vegas.
The actor prefers to dress hers up with chic, feminine blouses, but these flowy midis work just as well with a low-key graphic tee for your off-duty days. So, don't hesitate to add a bright-blue skirt like Holmes' to your spring lineup right away.
