Katie Holmes Just Served Up Holiday Party Perfection With Her Latest Look
Let's call 2019 what it is: It's the year of Katie Holmes' never-ending street-style reign — and there are still two months left. The only way you could have missed the actor's widely-talked about fashion moments (and there have been plenty throughout Oct. alone) is if you've decided to shut out all forms of social media. Nowadays, you can't scroll through your newsfeed without reading something about the 40-year old's sartorial sensibilities. That all-orange look she sported last week earned plenty of praise, but as of Oct. 22, Holmes' little black dress look is perhaps the most raved about of the month. Get ready for a definitive lesson in party dressing because yes, it's never too early to starting planning your festive attire.
It may have been a rainy fall evening in NYC, but Holmes certainly wasn't going to let that put a damper on her party style. On Oct. 22, the actor was photographed en route to the Nordstrom NYC grand opening. Shortly after, she switched gears and headed to the La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club gala. Two parties in one night called for a festive look that worked for both occasions — and, as per usual, a sleek LBD was the answer.
Holmes was the definition of edgy-elegance in a black mini dress from Yves Saint Laurent's Fall/Winter 2019 collection. It features sharp shoulders, an asymmetric hem, a gorgeously draped front gathered by large buttons on the side, and long sleeves. It's simple but has stunning detailing.
Party attire isn't complete without an assortment of standout accessories. And for Holmes, that included a pair of sheer, polka-dot YSL tights — in case you haven't heard, there are so many cool tight trends to try right now, all of which are sure to liven up an LBD in seconds — black, pointed-toe pumps, and a small clutch.
A swipe of bright-red lipstick was a classic but very welcomed beauty move, and her effortlessly-tousled hair kept the all-black look from feeling too formal. Well done, Holmes.
