Keira Knightley Met Prince Charles In A Chic Tweed Suit
It must be difficult deciding what to wear while accepting a royal award, but for Chanel ambassador Keira Knightley, it was a no-brainer. The actor was just honored for her services to drama and charity at Buckingham Palace, and she sported the classiest, vintage-inspired ensemble. The Chanel suit Keira Knightley collected her OBE in will absolutely make you swoon.
The British Love Actually actor posed on the palace steps with a metal on Thurs. after collecting her OBE (Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) from Prince Charles. She brought her husband, James Righton, and parents along for the special day, which called, of course, for Chanel couture.
A jewelry ambassador for the high-fashion French brand since 2016, Knightley opted for Chanel's iconic tweed skirt suit — this one, from the Spring/Summer 2017 couture collection. Wearing it exactly like the runway model, the 33-year-old sported a white button-up blouse with a colonel ribbon bowtie under the yellow woven jacket, cinched at the waist with a pastel-pink belt. Her matching pencil skirt hit just below the knee, meeting royal protocol.
Knightley's elegant outfit was so reminiscent of the classic tweed suits of the '60s. She completed the palace-appropriate look with a matching hat and beige lace-up booties.
While royal dress code typically calls for modest skirts and formal footwear, Emma Thompson made the bold decision to wear a menswear-inspired pantsuit and sneakers to receive her damehood from Prince William in Nov. (a decision that ultimately worked out in her favor, by the way). Knightley, on the other hand, followed Angelina Jolie and Helen Mirren's lead in a safe and stylish skirt suit.
The throwback look was simultaneously trend-forward, too. Tweed is making a comeback, according to the ultimate trendsetter, Amal Clooney. The renowned human rights attorney just attended a Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Norway wearing a tweed skirt suit of her own.
Most women would agree that dressing for winter is a feat, but these cozy co-ords make it easy. Get ahead of the trend with these tweed two-pieces handpicked by The Zoe Report, ahead.
